LesPhotosdeParis > Virginia  > Paris, Boston & Other Cities > Paris > Rue des Bluets
Pictures of the Rue des Bluets and its environs. This long-established, multicultural neighborhood is where we like to stay when we are in Paris. The gallery is best viewed in the Journal mode.

Virginia > Plants and flowers also tempt the eye and are easy on the pocketbook.
Virginia > This is the only time I have seen musical instruments for sale at the semi-weekly Ménilmontant market , but clothing and used books are often on offer.
Virginia > The produce we bought this day made a lovely centerpiece -- until we got hungry, of course.
Virginia > The post market detritus seems daunting, but the city clean-up crew is already on the scene. You can identify them by the green trucks you see in the left of the picture. The city workers wear matching day-glo green clothing.
Virginia > Trash pick-up is almost complete and the area is cleared until the next market day.
Virginia > The French have some really nifty machines for keeping the streets and sidewalks clean. This truck moves easily through narrow streets that are barely one lane wide. It holds water delivered under pressure to allow the city worker to spray the sidewalks clean.
Virginia > Eating in the area is a pleasure. Here Charles is enjoying the cheese platter at Astier, about a ten minute walk from Rue des Bluets. While I don't have any pictures of it, another very nice nearby restaurant is La Boulangerie on the Rue des Panoyaux.
Virginia > La Mere Lachaise café is located on the Boulevard Ménilmontant. We haven't eaten there, but it provided me with a welcome rest stop for a cup of coffee on a rainy afternoon. The menu looked pretty good, too.
Virginia > Le Saint Amour is our favorite local brasserie/café. The confit de canard and ile flotante, not to mention the salades composées and the crème brulée are wonderful.
